“From the consolidated audited financial statements of St. Vincent's Medical Center: The Medical Center, the Multispecialty Group, and the College are tax-exempt organizations under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and their related income is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(a). The Medical Center accounts for uncertainty in income tax positions by applying a recognition threshold and measurement attribute for financial statement recognition and measurement of a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken and has concluded that as of September 30, 2014, there are no uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the financial statements. The Medical Center is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. Management believes the Medical Center is no longer subject to income tax examinations prior to 2011.”
