Mission

The mission of Public Health Acupuncture of New Mexico is to promote the use of acupuncture to improve the health of people, to reduce health disparities, and to develop a public health acupuncture practitioner workforce for New Mexico.We achieve this by: Promoting the use of acupuncture for public health applications Providing support in starting up accessible low-cost acupuncture clinics Providing support in starting up acupuncture addiction programs Training practitioners Evaluating programs and communicating outcome results

Community acupuncture clinics - provide low cost acupuncture treatments to individuals. 4,393 low cost acupuncture treatments to 610 individuals were provided at the community clinics as part of 291 clinics. 45 free treatments were given. An additional 399 treatments were given during 49 clinics at a retirment home.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Acudetox programs - affiliated specialists and acupuncturists provided acudetox services at 18 "ear acupuncture for addiction" programs at 29 sites around nm in six counties. Staff and volunteers gave 5,241 treatments to an average of 517 individuals per month struggling with addictions during 1,216 clinics. Phanm provided 36 site visits for specialists. In addition, technical services are provided to the acudetox programs in new mexico. 100 hours of technical support hours were provided to acudetox programs and specialists in new mexico. Supplies were provided to 16 programs and services were provided at 2 events. Phanm was active in providing technical support to several pueblos during the year, and phanm was invited to present at behavioral health day at the nm legislature and at nm highlands university addictions conference. Insurance was also provided for 15 acudetox specialists.

Acudetox program trainings - 3 nada (national acupuncture detoxification association) trainings were given to 21 trainees for a total of 794 classroom and internship hours. Nine full scholarships (including to 5 jemez and zia pueblo high school seniors) and 5 partial scholarships were given.

Nmhu program - a community acupuncture clinic was set up at the nmhu (new mexico highlands university) community clinical treatment program. Supplies, insurance, marketing and educational materials, and training and supervision for staff were provided. Operational and risk management procedures were developed. 70 community acupuncture treatments were provided to clients and their family members during 32 clinics. Other programs- in addition, professional acupuncturists and acudetox specialists provided 168 gaap volunteer hours; non-professionals provided 125 non-gaap volunteer hours.

IN ADDITION, TECHNICAL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO THE ACUDETOX PROGRAMS IN NEW MEXICO. 100 HOURS OF TECHNICAL SUPPORT HOURS WERE PROVIDED TO ACUDETOX PROGRAMS AND SPECIALISTS IN NEW MEXICO. SUPPLIES WERE PROVIDED TO 16 PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WERE PROVIDED AT 2 EVENTS. PHANM WAS ACTIVE IN PROVIDING TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO SEVERAL PUEBLOS DURING THE YEAR, AND PHANM WAS INVITED TO PRESENT AT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH DAY AT THE NM LEGISLATURE AND AT NM HIGHLANDS UNIVERSITY ADDICTIONS CONFERENCE. INSURANCE WAS ALSO PROVIDED FOR 15 ACUDETOX SPECIALISTS.
