To provide support and advocacy for respect, understanding and nondiscrimination to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (lgbtq+)people, their families and allied persons in southwest michigan.

ADULTS, TEENS, FAMILIES AND SCHOOL SUPPORT: FAMILIES AND ALLIES - TWO ANNUAL OUTREACH EVENTS WERE LIVE STREAMED WITH 29,800 VIEWS. HOSTED 1 EDUCATIONAL SESSION WORKSHOP AT A PUBLIC LIBRARY AND A TWO- SESSION WORKSHOP AT BERRIEN COUNTY FAMILY COURTS, THAT PROVIDED 35 EMPLOYEES WITH INFORMATION AND BEST PRACTICES WHEN PROVIDING SUPPORT, ET AL, TO LGBTQ+ YOUTH. PROVIDED FAMILY ACCEPTANCE SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE TO 50 FAMILIES. TEEN PROGRAMS - 73 GENDERS AND SEXUALTIES ALLIANCE (GSA) SESSIONS CONVENED. A TOTAL OF 23 ATTENDED. 8 MEETINGS OF TEEN PRIDE GSA SUMMITS LIVE STREAMED WERE PROVIDED. SAFE SCHOOLS COLLABORATIVE - PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO 6 SCHOOLS REGARDING THEIR LGBTQ+ STUDENT POPULATION, PARENTS, AND STAFF. PROVIDED 11 FAMILIES WITH ASSISTANCE IN WORKING WITH THEIR SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE SUPPORTIVE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE FOR THEIR CHILDREN. PROVIDED 4 EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS TO 167 SCHOOL LEADERS AND STAFF, ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, HIGH SCHOOLS AND COLLEGE. ASSISTED 3 SCHOOLS IN THE ESTABLISHMENT OF STUDENT CLUBS FOR LGBTQ+ STUDENTS AND ALLIES. Adults, teens, families and school support: families and allies - two annual outreach events were live streamed with 29,800 views. Hosted 1 educational session workshop at a public library and a two- session workshop at berrien county family courts, that provided 35 employees with information and best practices when providing support, et al, to lgbtq+ youth. Provided family acceptance support and guidance to 50 families. Teen programs - 73 genders and sexualties alliance (gsa) sessions convened. A total of 23 attended. 8 meetings of teen pride gsa summits live streamed were provided. Safe schools collaborative - provided assistance to 6 schools regarding their lgbtq+ student population, parents, and staff. Provided 11 families with assistance in working with their schools to provide supportive school experience for their children. Provided 4 educational workshops to 167 school leaders and staff, elementary, middle, high schools and college. Assisted 3 schools in the establishment of student clubs for lgbtq+ students and allies. Hosted a summer college intern who produced 4 educational videos on inclusive sex ed with 160 policy recommendations geared for parents, and 1,268 impressions.

Answered questions and recommended support programs based on need. Approximately 21 attendees at 197 online sessions. Master's degree candidate interns (andrews university) provided counseling to 4 individuals.

Education and civic engagement - provided guidance on equity and inclusion to 4 area funders regarding emergency funds to sustain local nonprofits through 2020. Participated in 5 newly formed equity groups within larger area systems, including schools, health care, funders, etc. Participated in 12 state-wide calls with 17 other lgbtq+ centers and organization in michigan to network and develop strategies to educate and advocate for state departments, et al, to amend the state's civil rights act, produce information campaigns, etc., to create a more equitable and inclusive michigan. Participated in 10 state-wide calls with 28 lgbtq+ leaders, organizations, centers, etc., specific to the development of coordinated education and advocacy initiatives that can create a more equitable and inclusive michigan. Invited into a newly established national lgbtq+ working group on rural centers given how under-resourced rural areas are and that lgbtq+ people feel less safe in small towns and rural communities.
