Form 990, Part VI, Line 3: Description of Delegated Duties to Management Company

The parent company, Interim Inc., manages the Corporation. The Corporation has no employees. The parent company, Interim Inc., directly supervises its staff which includes: accountants, housing managers, maintenance staff, and landscaping staff.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 11B: Form 990 Review Process

The Board of Directors has the responsibility for reviewing the Form 990, including schedules, before it is filed with the IRS. From 990 is prepared by Accountant II and reviewed by Director of Finance.The reviewed draft is sent to the independent outside auditors for their review. The Board receives the reviewed Form 990 draft electronically two weeks prior to filing deadline. After the Form 990 is reviewed by the board, the independent outside auditors efile the Form 990.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

The Board of Directors complete an Annual Conflict of Interest Summary. If any conflicts arise, they are resolved quickly.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 15A: Compensation Review & Approval Process - CEO, Top Management

Interim Inc., the parent company, annually reviews salary schedules to determine whether an overall salary increase is warranted for all staff. Data is collected from various sources using position comparison and job-matching techniques. We seek data from multiple sources, including Monterey County Behavioral Health, California Association of Social Rehabilitation Agencies, the Northern California Nonprofit Annual Survey, and private salary survey companies when appropriate (such as Abbott, Langer & Associates). All comparative information is presented to the program & personnel committee of the Board of Directors for review. The HR department recommends changes to the salary schedules if warranted to the entire board. When there is no step schedule change, the only salary increases result from the employee receiving an annual performance review that warrants moving to the next step on the salary schedule, up to a 4.5% increase over the previous step.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

The Organization is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and from state franchise tax under California Revenue and Taxation Code Section 23701(d), but is subject to taxes on unrelated business income when earned. Management has considered its tax positions and believes that all of the positions taken in its federal and state tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained upon examination. The Organizations returns are subject to examination by federal and state taxing authorities, generally for three years and four years, respectively, after they are filed.
