“The 37th annual slo county toy run is community service event that through fundraising and community donations has been able to distribute christmas gifts and neccessary items to needy children thoughout the san luis obispo county in december 2017. This annual event attracts community members to help contribute childrens' gifts (as part of their admission to the event) with a minimum value of $15 each, times the 1,200 attendees with a minimum value of $18,000. These gifts plus the additional gifts that the slo county toy run purchases are distributed throughout the county to needy children and their families, which brings much joy to all who participate in the event, especially to the receiving families. Above and beyond the support from local sponsors and merchants, each year for the past five years, disneyland has donated a generous family package to our event, and their generosity inspires adults and children alike. On the day of the event, after all attendees have been served their barbeque meals, we donate all remaining food and products to the local homeless shelter, valued at over $500.”
