Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

The organization has full members and sponsoring members.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7A

Members who elect the governing body are comprised of representatives from full members and sponsoring members. Full member organizations are central registries, which are, or have the potential to become population-based registries. Sponsoring member organizations are national professional or national governmental organizations primarily involved in any of the following areas: cancer epidemiology, patient care, cancer control, cancer registration, professional education, research, or biostatistics.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7B

The only decisions that require approval by members are amendments to the bylaws.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The audit firm presents the complete audit and 990 annually at the october board meeting. The 990 is sent to the board electronically for their review prior to the meeting. Additionally, the 990 is posted to the naaccr web site for board and public review.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The conflict of interest policy is monitored annually by the board. The policy is available for review at anytime on the naaccr secure board web site as well as the public web site under "policies" on the "governance" web page. The board self-enforces the policy with assistance from the board secretary, the naaccr executive director.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Compensation for key personnel is determined by several factors. These include consideration of the current salary range of the position. Budget for the posistion; experience of the individual; educational qualifications; market conditions for attracting and retaining the position held by the person; and overall performance of the individual if they are a current employee. Salary ranges for all positions are approved by the naaccr board. The naaccr board approves the compensation of the executive director. All other position's compensations are determined by the executive director. Compensation for all employees is reviewed by the naaccr board.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

All governing documents such as policies, bylaws, standing rules, and the 990 form are publically posted on the naaccr web site. They are clearly marked and available on our governance web page. The naaccr monthly financial statement presentations to the board are recorded in the monthly minutes. These are available publically on the naaccr board web page. The annual business meeting agenda is also publically available on the naaccr web site.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0NACDDTHE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO ASSIST NACDD IN IDENTIFYING AND IMPLEMENTING BEST PRACTICES FOR REGISTRY OPERATIONS. THE NAACCR WILL ADVISE ON THE TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF THE STATISTICAL COMPLETENESS ESTIMATE REVIEW AND THE IMPLEMENTATION OF BEST PRACTICES. NAACCR WILL ALSO INSTITUTE AN APPLICATION PROCESS FOR CANCER REGISTRIES WHO HAVE NOT MET THE NPCR 12MONTH COMPLETENESS STANDARDS.BATTELLETO ASSIST ATSDR AND BATTELLE IN ASSESSING WHETHER THERE IS AN ASSOCIATION BETWEEN EXPOSURE TO THE CONTAMINATED DRINKING WATER AT CAMP LEJEUNE AND THE INCIDENCE OF SPECIFIC CANCERS IN OVER 460,000 COHORT MEMBERS. THE STUDY WILL REQUIRE THAT VITAL STATUS AND CAUSE OF DEATH FOR DECEDENTS BE OBTAINED FOR OVER 425,000 OF THE COHORT MEMBERS WHO HAD NOT DIED PRIOR TO JANUARY 1, 2009 BEFORE ACCESSING CANCER REGISTRY DATA FROM UP TO 55 STATES, TERRITORIAL, AND FEDERAL CANCER REGISTRIESVIRTUAL POOLED REGISTRY THE PURPOSE OF THE VPR PROJECT IS TO DESIGN A PROCESS BY WHICH RESEARCH DATA FILES CAN BE LINKED WITH MULTIPLE STATE CANCER REGISTRIES WITH A SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER INVESTMENT IN COST AND TIME FOR THE PUPOSE OF PROVIDING CANCER DIAGNOSIS AND FOLLOW-UP INFORMATION ON PATIENTS THAT MAY EXIST IN A CENTRAL CANCER REGISTRY'S DATABASE. A "ONE STOP SHOP" WILL BE CREATED THROUGH WITH AN INTERESTED RESEARCHER COULD SUBMIT A SINGLE RESEARCH APPLICATION AND ONE RESERCH FILE WHICH WOULD UNDERGO ONE STANDARDIZED LINKAGE SIMULTANEOUSLY AT MULTIPLE REGISTRIES. SYSTEM WILL BE TESTED TO DE-DUPLICATE CASE REPORTS BETWEEN STATES AND SHARE FOLLOW UP AND TREATMENT INFORMATION.
