Mission

MERCED RESCUE MISSION: MISSION, VISION AND PURPOSE:Our MISSION is to exhibit the love and caring of Jesus Christ; transforming lives for those in our county who are in physical and spiritual need.Our VISION is to be the hands, feet and voice of Christ in Merced County; advocating for the dispossessed, battered, hungry and destitute.Our PURPOSE is to continue the work of Jesus Christ through evangelizing, discipling, and serving the spiritual and physical needs of the disadvantaged. We provide emergency subsistence and rehabilitation programs for men, women and families, including skills training for the inner-city poor. We also strive to inform and involve the public in caring for the poverty-stricken, with the ultimate goal being the restoration of the whole person.

Form 990, Part III, Line 3: Ceased Conducting or Significant Changes To Services

The Senior Meals Program was modified effective July 1, 2014. The Mission no longer delivers meals to people who live throughout Merced County via the Meals on Wheels Program. That function was taken over by another local agency. The Mission has continued to contract with the Merced County Health and Human Services Agency to coordinate and operate seven sites throughout the county (Merced, Dos Palos, Planada, Atwater, Winton, and Livingston) where a site coordinatator and volunteers are present from 9 AM to 1 PM Monday through Friday to provide activities and a hot meal to seniors who come to each center.

IRS990/Desc0Merced Rescue Mission's five key programs and activities are: #1 - Emergency Homeless Services (daily meals, showers, clothing, shelter, etc). #2 - Community Outreach activities serve members of the homeless community via Mobile Food distribution program which provides meals to cities located throughout Merced County, and via case management and other special outreach events. #3 - New Life Tranformation program is a 9 to 12 month live-in recovery program offering men and women hope and a second chance to those who have been trapped in addiction or who have been incarcerated. #4 Respite Care Program which provides homeless patients who who have been discharged from the hospital a safe place to recover. #5 Room at the Inn provides homeless families with temporary housing while they work with governmental agencies,local businesses, and other non profit agencies to find employment, permanent housing and available social services to enable them to become self sufficient citizens again. This past year Merced Rescue Mission has:1. Served 135,000 hot, nutritious meals to homeless individuals, people in need and low-income families2. Distributed 27,300 delivered meals with our Food Mobile3. Supplied 7,961 showers to men and women and provided them with clean clothes.4. Provided 18,740 beds/nights of safe shelter for homeless men

IRS990/MissionDesc0MERCED RESCUE MISSION: MISSION, VISION AND PURPOSE:Our MISSION is to exhibit the love and caring of Jesus Christ; transforming lives for those in our county who are in physical and spiritual need.Our VISION is to be the hands, feet and voice of Christ in Merced County; advocating for the dispossessed, battered, hungry and destitute.Our PURPOSE is to continue the work of Jesus Christ through evangelizing, discipling, and serving the spiritual and physical needs of the disadvantaged. We provide emergency subsistence and rehabilitation programs for men, women and families, including skills training for the inner-city poor. We also strive to inform and involve the public in caring for the poverty-stricken, with the ultimate goal being the restoration of the whole person.
