To promote and support quality higher education in addiction studies by developing and implementing accredition standards; develop and implement certification and licensure standards for addiction service professionals; and provide public policy education.
The organization's focus for 2024 was set on rebuilding a stable credentialing service and continuing to operate with prudent financial practices. Even with the focus on credentialing, the organization supported the development and launch of three graduate programs focused on pathways to addiction treatment professions, as well as two community college addiction studies programs. The organization was highly active in representing and supporting addiction studies programs at degree-granting institutions for compliance with changes related to future California requirements for Registered Addiction Counselors and Federal financial aid eligibility for programs in gainful employment.

“2024 marked a notable change for credentialing. CAADE/ACCBC reestablished full operational oversight early in the fiscal year. Successfully rebuilt a new database for better record retention and data management, put together onboarding and training protocols, hired and trained new credentialing staff, and cross-trained non-credentialing staff and volunteers on credentialing processes. The organization achieved and maintained a maximum 10-day turnaround time for registration and certification applications. Processes were put in place and implemented to build a robust, diverse, and engaging Board for certification policy and oversight. The organization refocused credentialing on the core CAADE mission and the value of education for addiction treatment counselors, setting the most stringent standards in California and requiring all counselors to remain regularly engaged in education relevant to the practice and profession. The organization also received a five-year reaccreditation from the National Commission of Certifying Agencies.”

After completion of the tax returns,they are reviewed by the bookeeper and the board of directors. The executive director gives the final approval prior to signing the efile authorization forms.”

Successfully rebuilt a new database for better record retention and data management, put together onboarding and training protocols, hired and trained new credentialing staff, and cross-trained non-credentialing staff and volunteers on credentialing processes. The organization achieved and maintained a maximum 10-day turnaround time for registration and certification applications. Processes were put in place and implemented to build a robust, diverse, and engaging Board for certification policy and oversight. The organization refocused credentialing on the core CAADE mission and the value of education for addiction treatment counselors, setting the most stringent standards in California and requiring all counselors to remain regularly engaged in education relevant to the practice and profession. The organization also received a five-year reaccreditation from the National Commission of Certifying Agencies. |
