“The tax return is normally completed by the president, a retired IRS Agent and then reviewed by another former IRS employee before filing. It is then normally sent to a member of the audit committee who has accounting experience. Once the process has been approved and the return has been filed, a copy is maintained in the office and is available to any member upon receipt of a written request. Board members always have unfetterred access to the return. There is no charge associated with providing a copy of the return.”

“Based on the type of organization, this is not something we encounter. There are over 11,000 members in the organization and anyone doing anything that would affect how the organization was perceived would find that the risk of being outed is pretty much a certainty. Additionally, we consistently remind our board members of things they should avoid getting involved in. The organization's Executive Committee (President & 2 VP)are responsible for any investigations and subsequent actions which would be subjewct to board approval.”

“Bylaws and the organization's Policy Manual are posted to the organization's website. Copies of all tax returns are maintained in the organization's office and copies may be obtained at no cost by written request. The annual financial statements are posted to the website as part of a package which includes all data covered in the annual membership meeting. Those attending the meeting are provides a hard copy of the entire package. The conflict-of-interest policy is a document provided by the parent organization (United States Bowling Congress) and it is available on their website @ www.bowl.com.”

“The property listed on prior balance sheets (25,000) were never subject to depreciation. The costs were written off as expenses when they were acquired. Acquisition of many of the items occurred as far back as before 1990. Only a few items have actually been purchesed in the past 5 years. Our disposal process has been to donate the items to schools. While an inventory is maintained the items will no longer be listed on Schedule D or Part X.”
