On an annual basis the organization distributes conflict of interest policy to all officers and directors and ask that they disclose any conflicts of interest. The business affairs are also monitored for conflicts of interest by the organizations executive committee, which is aware of the organizations overall business activities.

The organization has a standing committee of independent directors that is responsible for working with the executive director to establish annual goals and objectives and for recommending salary adjustments to the organizations board of directors. The executive directors compensation and salary adjustments are based on a documented survey of ceo and executive director compensation of comparable non-profits in the houston area, a review of projected houston area salary increases for the period under consideration and the executive directors progress in accomplishing the agreed upon goals and objectives.
