Houston Masterworks Chorus, the city's largest independent chorus, is a community arts organization dedicated to the presentation of great choral music and to the continuation of the choral society tradition. According to a national study published in 2003 by Chorus America, more people in the United States sing in choral groups than participate in any other performing art. These choirs range from children's choruses to church choirs, symphonic choirs to chamber singers, high school choirs to senior barbershop groups. We provide valuable performance opportunities for people of all ages, and musical experiences of outstanding artistic quality. We provide a unique opportunity for talented volunteer singers of all ages, backgrounds and experiences to perform the choral masters with professional orchestras, continuing a tradition that stretches across the ages. We believe that music has the power to change the lives of those who sing and those who listen.
