Activity 2

Inprint Margaret Root Brown Reading Series (IBRS): The series features renowned writers on stage, at little or no cost to the public. All of the authors give on-stage readings, followed by an interview and a book sale and signing where audience members can meet the authors. The series has featured more than 300 writers, including 5 Nobel Prize winners, 44 Pulitzer Prize winners, and 43 national book awards winners. The total attendance for the 2009/2010 IBRS season was 4,435.

Activity 3

Community Workshops: The purpose of these various workshops is to provide the general public, senior citizens, K-12 teachers, Methodist hospital employees, and at-risk students with instruction in creative writing that enables them, depending on the group served, to sharpen their writing skills, to prepare creative work for publication, to produce memoirs that can be shared with families and communities, to engage in a personally rewarding activity, and to improve job performance and standardized test scores. Participants and the Inprint board and staff evaluate the workshops on an ongoing basis.
