The organzation's process to review form 990 is to have the finance committee review the return before it is filed. Also board of directors are provided with a copy of the return before it is filed.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Each individual covered by the conflict of interest policy is required to disclose on an annual basis any relationship with people doing business with the organization that could give rise to a conflict of interest. On the first day of october each year, each director and officer shall acknowledge his or her familiarity with the conflict of interest policy and shall disclose in writing to the chairperson of the board any existing financial or material interests or co-investment interests subject to this policy by completing a conflict-of-interest disclosure statement. The chairperson of the board shall review the conflict-of-interest disclosure statements and he or she shall refer any issues not previously disclosed to the board or appropriate committee. The conflict-of-interest disclosure statements shall be retained in the confidential files of the chairperson of the board.

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Part XI and Part XII

Wham is a nonprofit organization exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (code) and comparable state law, and contributions to it are tax deductible within the limitations prescribed by the code. Wham did not conduct any unrelated business activities in the current fiscal year. Therefore, wham has made no provision for federal income taxes in the statement of activities and changes in net assets. Management has evaluated wham's tax positions and concluded that wham has taken no uncertain tax positions that require adjustment to the financial statements. In 2024, wham had no tax-related interest or penalties included in the statement of activities and changes in net assets. With few exceptions, wham is no longer subject to u.s. Federal or state income tax examinations by tax authorities for years before 2021.

WHAM'S PLATINUM-RATED (CONTINUED ON PG. 60)(CONTINUED FROM PG. 3) FOOD PANTRY IS THE LARGEST IN WEST HOUSTON, AND HAS BEEN DESIGNATED BY THE HOUSTON FOOD BANK AS ONE OF A FEW TRUSTED HUB AGENCIES DISTRIBUTING FOOD TO SMALLER AGENCIES.
