“The form 990 is reviewed and accepted by the President/Executive Director and by the Finance Committee of the Board prior to filing with the IRS.”

“Board members sign an agreement against any conflict of interest. If there should arise for determination by the Executive Board a case of real or apparent conflict between the interests of a trustee or of someone close to him or her and the interests of the Society, the trustee should make the outside interest a matter of record. Should the trustee be present when votes are being cast on the matter, he or she should abstain from voting. If disclosures of the interest and abstention from voting are insufficient to allay the suspicion of conflict of interest, the appropriate course for the trustee may be to resign.”

“Compensation for staff is determined in the budget process for the year and set by the President/Executive Director. The Finance Committee approves the budget and then presents it to the Board of Trustees for approval. Compensation for the President/Executive Director is set by the Board of Trustees.”

“When our agreement with the city of Dallas to manage Old City Park ended on May 26, 2024, we ceased virtually all of our operations.”

“Dchss agreement with the city to operate old city park expired in may 2024. Since that time dchs no longer generates program fee revenue, rental income or gift shop revenue. Additionally, dchs no longer receives in-kind utility support.cumulatively these revenue sources totaled approximately $220,000 and $316,000 of total revenue and support for the years ended september 30, 2023 and 2022, respectively. Dchs has reduced expenses to account for this reduction in revenue. When dchss agreement with the city of dallas to manage old city park expired, all but one of the current employees was released.on january 31, 2024, the dchs executive board elected, effective upon the expiration of the agreement with the city, to continue to operate as a support/friends organization for the benefit of old city park under the assumed name of old city park conservancy and adopted the following mission statement: the mission of dallas county heritage society (dba old city park conservancy) is to advocate for and provide support to old city park so that visitors can connect with the past, inspire the future, and celebrate dallas's rich diversity in dallas's first and oldest public park.”
