| IRS990/Desc | 0 | Located in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas since 1930, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth ("THFW") operates 645 beds. The hospital provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services with specialized capabilities in many areas, including cardiology and cardiovascular interventions, stroke and neuroscience, oncology, orthopedics and sports medicine, trauma and emergency care, and interventional radiology. THFW is designated as a Level II Trauma facility and has received a Baby-Friendly designation from the World Health Organization and UNICEF. THFW is an accredited Cycle III Chest Pain Center and Heart Failure Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. In April 2010, THFW opened a new outpatient services clinic in Burleson, Texas. In 2011, THFW and Centerre Healthcare Corporation opened Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth, a 50-bed comprehensive acute freestanding rehabilitation hospital that provides patients with specialized therapy programs such as a dedicated brain injury unit and specialized stroke program. On March 1, 2012 THFW acquired the Clear Fork Surgery Center expanding total surgical suites to thirty. The Harris Methodist Heart Center, opened in 2006, is a fully integrated heart hospital providing comprehensive cardiovascular care from prevention and education to diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. The Center for Women and Infants' Health has specialized medical services for women and newborns, including obstetrics and high risk perinatal services, uro-gynecological surgery, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit and ARTS. THFW also has a nationally recognized cancer center. THFW offers sports rehabilitation services, serves as a regional laboratory resource and is a regional base for CareFlite air ambulance service. In addition to these services, THFW has achieved many honors and awards and received significant recognition. THFW has been named the most preferred hospital, based on quality and image, for 16 consecutive years by the National Research Corporation, which recognizes hospitals annually based on consumer perceptions on attributes such as best doctors, best nurses, best overall quality and best image and reputation based on a survey of approximately 250,000 households in over 300 markets. THFW has been voted "Best Place to Have a Baby" 17 times in Fort Worth Child Magazine's "Best for Mom and Baby" readers' survey. In 2009, THFW received the Magnet Recognition Program Award for excellence in nursing services. In 2012, THFW was designated an Emergency Center for Excellence by Emergency Excellence, a national organization specializing in emergency department benchmarking. Also in 2012, THFW earned the NICHE designation from the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing at New York University College of Nursing for excellence in care for patients sixty-five years of age and older. In 2011 and 2012, THFW was named to U.S. News and World Report's list of Best Hospitals in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area. THFW is the first oncology program in Tarrant County to achieve accreditation with full commendation by the CoC and twice received the CoC's Outstanding Achievement Award for earning commendation in all possible areas. THFW was the first hospital in Tarrant County to have a CMS certified stroke program and the first hospital in Texas to be nationally recognized for the treatment of hip fractures. During the year, THFW had 177,738 patient days, 33,273 discharges, 175,626 outpatient encounters, 133,662 emergency room visits and 3,443 births. THFW provides quality medical healthcare regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, handicap, age, or ability to pay. The hospital provides care to persons covered by governmental programs including Medicare and Medicaid for reimbursement that does not always cover the cost of providing the care.
