Upon completion of the draft form 990 return for this short period, the document, all attached schedules and accompanying explanation sheets were sent to members of the parent organization, goodwill industries of kentucky, inc., audit committee for review and approval prior to submission of the return to the irs. The form 990 was not distributed to the organization's governing body as it was disbanded effective may 31, 2015.

Annually, goodwill industries works, inc. Officers and directors are asked to complete a questionnaire which defines and describes the company's conflicts of interest policy and asks if there were business transactions that have occurred or personal relationships which cause a conflict. There is also an anonymous tip line that can be used for persons to report suspected conflicts that would violate company policy.

A compensation committee of the goodwill industries of kentucky, inc. (related company) board of directors reviewed the contract for the president/ceo as well as the salaries for vice presidents. The committee engaged an outside counsel for the contract, supplemental retirement benefit, and salary review. The committee reviewed comparative data provided by outside counsel. The committee brought its recommendations to the executive committee of the (related company) board for review and approval. The vice presidents' (other officers) compensation was reviewed by the president/ceo. She reviewed outside counsel data on officer compensation of comparable organizations and recommended compensation levels that were reasonable in comparison and ensured that no one received excessive compensation. The recommended salaries were presented to the (related company) compensation committee.

In an effort to make its financial statements available to the public, goodwill industries works, inc. Places each year's 990 tax return and annual report on its affiliate company's (goodwill industries of kentucky's) website. The annual report is also broadly distributed in communities in which the company operates. Governing documents and the conflict of interest policy are provided to those who request them.

THE CENTERS SELL A VARIETY OF DONATED MERCHANDISE (OBTAINED FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND BUSINESSES) TO THE COMMUNITY AT DISCOUNTED PRICES TO HELP STRETCH THE FAMILY BUDGET AND DIVERT DONATED ITEMS FROM LOCAL LANDFILLS. GOODWILL INDUSTRIES WORKS' CENTERS ALSO PROVIDED FUNDING TO SUPPORT EMPLOYMENT COUNSELING, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, AND EMPLOYMENT TRAINING SERVICES THROUGH THE COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM. DURING FY 2015, 401 PEOPLE WERE SERVED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. GOODWILL INDUSTRIES WORKS AND ITS EMPLOYEES RECEIVE BENEFICIAL SUPPORT SERVICES FROM GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF KENTUCKY, INC. IN RETURN, ANY FUNDS NOT NEEDED TO OPERATE DONATED GOODS PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED TO GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF KENTUCKY, INC. AND ITS OTHER RELATED NON-PROFIT COMPANIES WHICH FINANCES NEW RETAIL STORES AND PROVIDES EMPLOYMENT TRAINING AND COUNSELING, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, PERSONAL SUPPORT SERVICES, LIFE SKILLS TRAINING, AND PLACEMENT SERVICES (THROUGH WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS AND TEMPORARY STAFFING).
