The Jennifer Diamond Cancer Foundation is dedicated to helping people win the fight against cancer. The Foundation is focused on enpowering people with knowledge, as well as supporting research and healing programs that provide the tools to help treat the mind and body of cancer patients.

| Yoga programsTwo new yoga programs were provided to our participants at night in order to accommodate people who have to work. An increase of 230 additional participants in 2016 were seen due to this change. Survivors Yoga which teaches mind body strength and flexibility for people ready to begin a new understanding of their relationship to their body after cancer. Yoga Meditation & Mindfulness with Aromatherapy which teaches short sequences of gentle yoga postures followed by an explanation and practice of mindfulness and other forms of meditation. We increased our number of participants by 112 due to successful outreach to the community, doctors and clinics.We are also on the trajectory to increase both the support program hours that we offer and the support program hours utilized by participants each year by 35%. Beginning in June 2016 we were given 2 weeks notice to vacate our offices and had to stop providing any support programs due to building renovations that were required by the landlord. | $37,768 | - |
| CANCER SUPPORT PROGRAMSIn 2016 we offered nineteen cancer support and educational programs free to cancer patients and their families at our offices. We served over 500 families throughout the Los Angeles area. These support programs empower people with cancer, helping them to lead a better quality of life and increasing their chance of survival through education and the reduction of stress. We acquired a new "Cooking for Health" instructor. This program teaches participants practical cooking skills they need for better health and a healthy diet. This can have a major effect in helping cancer survivors to live longer healthier lives. This program saw an increase of 70 additional participants in 2016. We added a new drawing and watercolor program for our participants. The new instructor has 20+ years of experience teaching and working with cancer patients. This program saw an increase of 60 additional participants in 2016. | Cancer Education InitiativeIn 2016, we launched our new Cancer Education Initiative (CEI), created with Dr. Jerry Kornfeld, a member of our Medical Advisory Board. The initiative educates participants about their cancer and the health benefits that our support programs provide.Information is presented by our instructors during health seminars. Participants also learn how a positive attitude can improve the quality of their life during cancer treatment and beyond. In turn, our educational tools enhance their feeling ofwellbeing and help them find the techniques to deal with their cancer and its effects.We also held a seminar hosted by Dr. Kornfeld that helped participants understand our new CEI. “SETBACKSRENOVATIONS: In June, 2016, we received two weeks notice from the property owner that the property that housed our headquarters was being renovated and wed have to temporarily stop providing cancer support services and pack all of our property into storage. We were initially told that the renovation would be completed byOctober, 2016. However, after October, we were informed that the renovations would be completed by January, 2017.Fortunately, we have been informed that we can return to that property beginning December 2017.LACK OF FUNDING: The result of the disruption to our operation due to the renovations, impacted us financially, causing us to temporarily stop providing our cancer support programs and services.ObjectivesOver the next three to five years, our organizational goals and objectives are as follows:Beginning in 2018 our immediate future plans are to relocate either back to our original address or to another home for JDCF to continue doing the important work of providing cancer support to our community. Our operations will provide free cancer support and educational services. From there, we seek to expand and provide thoseservices to different communities, particularly those in underserved locations.Description of the programs, including goals, achievements, challenges and future plans.Program:The goals and objectives of JDCF, with the funding that we receive will be to continue to educate people with cancer and their families with the kind of information that will help them to make more informed decisions about their healthcare and become their own advocate throughout their battle with cancer.CANCER SUPPORT PROGRAMSWe have five objectives with respect to the free cancer support programs that we will provide through our funding efforts: Help people in the surrounding communities with cancer, including those with limited financial resources. Empower them to lead a better quality of life and increase their chance of survival. Help the body through programs that support healthy eating and exercise. Help the mind through education, fostering a positive attitude and relieving stress. We were initially told that the renovation would be completed byOctober, 2016. However, after October, we were informed that the renovations would be completed by January, 2017.Fortunately, we have been informed that we can return to that property beginning December 2017.LACK OF FUNDING: The result of the disruption to our operation due to the renovations, impacted us financially, causing us to temporarily stop providing our cancer support programs and services.ObjectivesOver the next three to five years, our organizational goals and objectives are as follows:Beginning in 2018 our immediate future plans are to relocate either back to our original address or to another home for JDCF to continue doing the important work of providing cancer support to our community. Our operations will provide free cancer support and educational services. From there, we seek to expand and provide thoseservices to different communities, particularly those in underserved locations.Description of the programs, including goals, achievements, challenges and future plans.Program:The goals and objectives of JDCF, with the funding that we receive will be to continue to educate people with cancer and their families with the kind of information that will help them to make more informed decisions about their healthcare and become their own advocate throughout their battle with cancer.CANCER SUPPORT PROGRAMSWe have five objectives with respect to the free cancer support programs that we will provide through our funding efforts: Help people in the surrounding communities with cancer, including those with limited financial resources. Empower them to lead a better quality of life and increase their chance of survival. Help the body through programs that support healthy eating and exercise. Help the mind through education, fostering a positive attitude and relieving stress. Provide hope.We will provide the following cancer support programs and activities free to cancerpatients and their families: Gentle Yoga Restorative Yoga Pilates Meditation, Relaxation & Guided Imagery Group Support Qigong Lectures Health Seminars Kids Kaps with Love Ask Dr. Jerry medical lectures Mindfulness |
