“Other major programs by copobenefits screening &enrollment:-copos program provides education, outreach, screening, and enrollment for snap, medicaid, family health plus, child health plus, the affordable care act, and other benefits. We provide these services to over 6,000 people annually. In addition, copo provides education, outreach, and referral for free health insurance to undocumented immigrants through a partnership with the mayors office of immigrant affairs. Community education and legal services:- copo is a full-time navigation and legal services site in the action nyc network. Through this program,copo conducts outreach, offers case management, and provides legal advice and representation. The program is staffed by an immigration attorney. We assist with form n-400 (application for naturalization), form i-130 (petition for alien relative), vawa petitions, form i-90 (application to replace permanent residence card) removal proceedings, and more. In addition, we offer grants for basic needs to clients who we are representing. Community relations:- copo builds relationships between new immigrants and new york city, new york state, and federal law enforcement agencies. We also helped to initiate a muslim advisory board for the fbi. We hold meetings with the fbi and the department of homeland security. Each year, we conduct training sessions for over 100 agents from the fbi, dhs, customs and boarder protection, uscis, and other federal and city agencies. Health insurance support: copo offers health insurance services. We have a health insurance navigator on site to help with health insurance enrollment through nysol. Our health insurance navigator assists clients with their medical bills, filling out health insurance applications, renewals, and refers them to outside sources for the uninsured coverage. Womens empowerment:copo offers educational and referral services targeted to women facing abuse. Domestic violence exists in our community. It is a particular source of community stress given their marginalized social status as immigrants; women face many barriers to seeking assistance, such as distrust of institutions, fear of loss of immigration status, poor extended family networks, fear of loss of benefits, lack of awareness of theshelter systems and personal rights, cultural and linguistic barriers. We aim to break the barriers to seeking assistance by offering a safe environment where these women can come and seek the assistance they need. Copo/sonyc - razi school: copo is funded by the new york city department of youth & community development to offer a sonyc after-school program at a middle school in woodside, queens. Our program offers students in grades 6, 7, and 8 a robust mix of academic, arts and culture, physical education, and community service. It also provides activities to promote healthy social development, build self- esteem, and teach peaceful conflict resolution skills. The program staff bring the cultural and religious sensitivity to serve muslim students from differing ethnic backgrounds. Our program is open to students of all faiths and backgrounds. Internship program: copo runs an internship and volunteer program where we have internships on all different levels such as associates level, bachelors level, and masters level, where they come and complete their practicum hours in their respective fields. We offer internships in multiple departments. This includes, but is not limited to, counseling, food pantry, senior services, finance department, it department, etc. Office of new americans (ona): partnered with asian american federation to increase support in low-income immigrant communities by discussing and coordinating programs and services to meet their needs. The main goals are to increase job readiness among low-income immigrants and refugees and meet the employment needs of the local economy by providing workshops that focus on workforce development opportunities such as resume building, job s”

COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND LEGAL SERVICES:- COPO IS A FULL-TIME NAVIGATION AND LEGAL SERVICES SITE IN THE ACTION NYC NETWORK. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM,COPO CONDUCTS OUTREACH, OFFERS CASE MANAGEMENT, AND PROVIDES LEGAL ADVICE AND REPRESENTATION. THE PROGRAM IS STAFFED BY AN IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY. WE ASSIST WITH FORM N-400 (APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION), FORM I-130 (PETITION FOR ALIEN RELATIVE), VAWA PETITIONS, FORM I-90 (APPLICATION TO REPLACE PERMANENT RESIDENCE CARD) REMOVAL PROCEEDINGS, AND MORE. IN ADDITION, WE OFFER GRANTS FOR BASIC NEEDS TO CLIENTS WHO WE ARE REPRESENTING. COMMUNITY RELATIONS:- COPO BUILDS RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN NEW IMMIGRANTS AND NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK STATE, AND FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. WE ALSO HELPED TO INITIATE A MUSLIM ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE FBI. WE HOLD MEETINGS WITH THE FBI AND THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY. EACH YEAR, WE CONDUCT TRAINING SESSIONS FOR OVER 100 AGENTS FROM THE FBI, DHS, CUSTOMS AND BOARDER PROTECTION, USCIS, AND OTHER FEDERAL AND CITY AGENCIES. HEALTH INSURANCE SUPPORT: COPO OFFERS HEALTH INSURANCE SERVICES. WE HAVE A HEALTH INSURANCE NAVIGATOR ON SITE TO HELP WITH HEALTH INSURANCE ENROLLMENT THROUGH NYSOL. OUR HEALTH INSURANCE NAVIGATOR ASSISTS CLIENTS WITH THEIR MEDICAL BILLS, FILLING OUT HEALTH INSURANCE APPLICATIONS, RENEWALS, AND REFERS THEM TO OUTSIDE SOURCES FOR THE UNINSURED COVERAGE. WOMENS EMPOWERMENT:COPO OFFERS EDUCATIONAL AND REFERRAL SERVICES TARGETED TO WOMEN FACING ABUSE. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE EXISTS IN OUR COMMUNITY. IT IS A PARTICULAR SOURCE OF COMMUNITY STRESS GIVEN THEIR MARGINALIZED SOCIAL STATUS AS IMMIGRANTS; WOMEN FACE MANY BARRIERS TO SEEKING ASSISTANCE, SUCH AS DISTRUST OF INSTITUTIONS, FEAR OF LOSS OF IMMIGRATION STATUS, POOR EXTENDED FAMILY NETWORKS, FEAR OF LOSS OF BENEFITS, LACK OF AWARENESS OF THESHELTER SYSTEMS AND PERSONAL RIGHTS, CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC BARRIERS. WE AIM TO BREAK THE BARRIERS TO SEEKING ASSISTANCE BY OFFERING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT WHERE THESE WOMEN CAN COME AND SEEK THE ASSISTANCE THEY NEED. COPO/SONYC - RAZI SCHOOL: COPO IS FUNDED BY THE NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF YOUTH & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO OFFER A SONYC AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM AT A MIDDLE SCHOOL IN WOODSIDE, QUEENS. OUR PROGRAM OFFERS STUDENTS IN GRADES 6, 7, AND 8 A ROBUST MIX OF ACADEMIC, ARTS AND CULTURE, PHYSICAL EDUCATION, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE. IT ALSO PROVIDES ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE HEALTHY SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, BUILD SELF- ESTEEM, AND TEACH PEACEFUL CONFLICT RESOLUTION SKILLS.
