The Richardson Plano Guide Right Foundation provides youth leadership programs and college scholarships to students of diverse backgrounds and ethnicity in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. The Richardson Plano Guide Right Foundation provides youth leadership programs and college scholarships to students of diverse backgrounds and ethnicity in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. We engage in charitable activities and extend financial aid through scholarships, college preparation guidance, foundation contributions, need-based aid or assistance to qualified individuals. The RPGRF and its members pride themselves on providing impactful youth programs that reach over 200 youth each year on average. Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Guide Right Scholarships have been awarded to college-bound students who participate in the program. Scholarships are also awarded to deserving graduating high school seniors who have not participated in the program. The scholarships awards have ranged from $250-$2,500 per student.$0$63,500
The Guide Right Program focuses on young men from grades 7th through 12th. Areas of emphasis include the following: Public Speaking; Leadership; Money Management; Critical Thinking Skills; Entrepreneurial Skills; Leadership Development, College preparation; Goal Setting; Current Events, Social Action and STEM Career Exposure. The program is focused on teaching good study skills, career exploration, critical thinking skills, leadership training, group dynamics, goal setting, business dynamics, current event awareness and public speaking. All of the aforementioned skills are covered in each student group meeting. The meetings are structured to allow each student to present a brief news or relevant topic overview, followed by engaging the group to participate in thought-provoking Q&A sessions with interaction from all students. The program is part of an afterschool partnership with the Plano Independent School District. Students throughout the DFW area are allowed to participate with Plano students. As part of the program, we also visit and tour Langston University and attend an on-campus Leadership Workshop annually. The student group participates in a community service activity at least twice a year. In the past, the program has given away school supplies to needy families, assembled and delivered Thanksgiving Food Baskets to families, and have volunteered at Minnie's Food Pantry in Plano.$0$18,532
RPGRF provides annual sponsorships for students to Kappa Kamp which is a summer enrichment camp held on the campus of The Piney Woods School. The camp's purpose is to strengthen the academic and social abilities of students. Students are exposed to a variety of cultural seminars, crafts workshops, field trips, and educational lectures. Kappa Kamp is a two week summer activity held during the month of July of each year. The camp is held on the campus of The Piney Woods Country Life School located in Piney Woods, Mississippi. RPGRF has sent two students from the Dallas/Fort Worth to the camp each year since 1997. The activities are conducted by volunteers from various communities. (www.pineywoods.org)$0$9,627
