Mission

ThepurposeoftheFriendsoftheKellerPublicLibraryistosupporttheKellerPublicLibraryinitseffortstoprovideaccesstoinformationforlifelonglearning.Especially,theFriendsorganizationseekstoextendliteracyinourcommunityandtopromotecivicandcommunityinvolvementbyprovidinglow-cost,qualitybooksandmediathroughtheyear-roundoperationofasmallbookstore.Weraisemoneymainlythroughthesaleofdonatedanddiscardedbooksinthebookstore,whichisoperatedbyvolunteers.TheFriendsorganizationalsoreceivesgrantsfromvariousorganizationswiththeunderstandingthatallfundswillbeusedtosupporttheKellerPublicLibraryasfundingisrequestedbytheLibraryDirector.ForcedperiodicclosureofthebookstorecausedbyCOVID19pandemicconcernsandoccasionalraindamagetothebuildingreducedtheamountoffundsraisedthroughsalesatthebookstoreduringthisfiscalyearjustasduringthepriorfiscalyear.

The Friends of the Keller Library is a nonprofit organization operating exclusively to support the Keller Public Library. The Friends achieve this by volunteers operating a bookstore year-round as well as by securing grants and receiving contributions. Their primary goal is to enhance the mission of the Keller Public Library which aims to promote lifelong learning and enjoyment through books programs and media to transform lives for a better community. The library develops and offers various programs to provide additional opportunities for information learning and entertainment and the Friends organization actively assists in fulfilling these essential objectives.

Grant to the Keller Public Library for hosting One Book One City a series of community events leading to an evening with the author of the selected book and for Late Night at the Library activities a series of innovative family and community activities throughout the year. Grant to Keller Public Library to provide an extension to the external Holds Lockers the Friends funded last year so library patrons are able to pick up reserved materials at any time as well as to purchase a book collection of 150 titles to be used for Keller Pointe Summer Camp and to provide books for Keller High School students for One Book One City.
