Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part XI, Line 2C

The association's finance committee assumes responsibility for oversight of the audit and selection of independent accountants. This process has not changed from the prior year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Aoca is exempt from federal and state income taxes under section 501(c)(6) of the internal revenue code (irc). Aoca is subject to income taxes on its unrelated business income. There were no taxes owed for the years ended december 31, 2013 and 2012. The association follows the requirements for accounting for uncertain tax positions. The association has determined that it is not required to record a liability related to uncertain tax positions as of december 31, 2013 and 2012. The federal and state tax returns of aoca and the fund for 2010, 2011, and 2012 are subject to examination by the internal revenue service and state taxing authorities, generally for three years after the date they were filed.
