Mission and Program Overview

Mission

To promote professional development of construction financial professionals by providing quality education forums and opportunities to network with industry peers, thereby providing strategic value to members and the companies they work for.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Monthly Meetings - Membership dues covered the free attendance at monthly meetings during which a guest speaker delivers a presentation on a topic that is particular to the construction industry or relevant to financial managers. Meetings also provided networking opportunities, such as at the Lone Star Conference, and an occasion to award the Construction Financial Professional of the Year.--
Educational Classes - Educational seminars are typically held twice throughout the year with a focus on obtaining continuing professional education credit. Topics range from the basics of construction accounting to advanced cash management. An additional review course is offered for individuals interested in obtaining the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional credential. Expenses for these classes are minimal because instructors are chapter members who donate their time and facilities.--
Scholarships and Internship Program - The funds obtained from the annual golf tournament are used to award a) scholarships to qualified students pursuing an accounting or financial degree related to the construction industry; and b) financial incentives to employers of CFMA general members for hiring a college student in an accounting or financial capacity in a construction environment during the summer months.--
