“To provide a group of experienced, active, and competent adjudicators. To encourage the development of music in schools.”
“The main purpose of our organization is to certify and train adjudicators for the uil music contests/evaluations held throughout the state. The executive committee is also very active in setting guidelines and standards for these contests/evaluations. We have almost 1,600 members in the organization and there are membership requirements they must meet to remain either a provisional or active member. Our organization has an application process where directors apply for membership. The organization also offers judging workshops for all four divisions (concert band, marching band, vocal and orchestra) at the tmea convention and the summer conventions every year. In addition, there are occasional satellite workshops presented across the state as they are rquested. Members must attend a judging workshop once every four years to maintain membership. At each convention, we probably have 300-400 directors attend the workshops offered (non-members can also attend).”
“Article 2: members classes of members a. Active members 1. Qualifications d. Superior performance component iii. Public school music administrators may qualify for tmaa membership by submitting documentation attesting to five years of teaching in the state of texas in the areas of application (concert band, choir, orchestra and/or marching band). They must also submit three letters of recommendation from current tmaa active members. These letters must state the qualifications of the candidate. In addition, during at least three of their final five years of teaching in the classroom, the public school music administrators must have earned at least division i ratings in both concert and sight reading or division i ratings in marching band. In addition, we also eliminated the annual general business meeting that occurred at the texas music adjudicators association convention and the general business meeting is now held online where business (voting for officers, committee members and constitutional amendments) is now done electronically.”
