Activity 2

Supported Employment Services - This was one of the first programs in Texas to train adults with cognitive disabilities for meaningful jobs and match them with companies needing their skills. We help adults with intellectual disabilities brain injury and other cognitive disabilities find meaningful employment and build independence. Our services include assessment of client skills and interests, career planning, job placement, onsite training and ongoing assistance after the person is in the job. Supported employment with follow-up assistance works it is a proven method for adults with mental retardation to achieve success in the workforce. LaunchAbility transforms the lives of these adults, helping tax consumers become taxpayers. In 2011, the program served 146 adults with cognitive disabiities. Our service area includes Dallas, Collin and Denton counties.

Activity 3

Child Care Champions - This program offers a unique training approach for child care providers in Dallas County through relationship-based training. Trainings and consultations are provided for licensed child care centers and child care home associations on-site at flexible times to meet the centers needs. A series of 8 Core Trainings on Infant Mental Health topics are provided followed by trainings on other requested topics as well as classroom consultations for support, problem-solving and idea sharing.
