Owen cox dance group's mission is to create new music and dance collaborations, to present high-quality contemporary dance performances with live music, and engage as wide as an audience as possible through affordable live performance, education, and outreach programs.

The organization hires many professional performers and skilled backstage technicians and artists as part of their mission to create and deliver vibrant music and dance collaborations and provide education and outreach programs. They also contracted with grant writers to assist with grant applications and reporting for funding.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

No provision for income taxes has been recorded, as the oreganization is a non-profit organiztion that is exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. The organization accounts for uncertain tax provisions in accordance fasb condification topic income taxes. Income taxes clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes and requires the organization to recognize in the financial statemetns the inpact of a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, if that position is more likely than not to be sustained under audit, based on the technical merits of the position. Management has assessed the tax positions of the organization and determined that no positions exist that require adjustment or disclosure in the financial statemetns.

THE CLASSES IN THE "TAKE THE STAGE" PROGRAM ARE DIRECTED TOWARD THIRD AND FOURTH GRADERS AT SCHOOLS THAT ARE UNDERSERVED BY THE ARTS. THE CLASSES ARE RIGOROUS AND ALL-INCLUSIVE, AND TEACH THAT TEAMWORK, TENACITY, DISCIPLINE, AND JOYFUL EFFORT CAN EQUAL SUCCESS-IN ACADEMICS AND IN LIFE. EVERY STUDENT PARTICIPATES IN THESE HIGH-ENERGY CLASSES THAT CELEBRATE THE BEST IN EACH CHILD. BOYS AND GIRLS, WHETHER TYPICALLY DEVELOPING, WITH PHYSICAL OR LEARNING CHALLENGES OR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS, ALL ARE AT HOME IN OUR PROGRAM. OUR CLASSES TOUCH UPON HEALTHY LIFE PRACTICES AND WHAT IT TAKES TO BE YOUR BEST MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY, AND EMOTIONALLY. STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN LEARNING DIFFERENT DANCE MOVES THAT ARE TAUGHT BY A FORMER DANCER AND A COMPOSER/MUSICIAN PLAYING THE PIANO. EACH YEAR THE "TAKE THE STAGE" PROGRAM PRESENTS STUDENTS FROM ITS FULL-YEAR SCHOOLS TOGETHER ON STAGE IN A LIVE-MUSIC PUBLIC PERFORMANCE. IN 2014, OUR CURRICULAR THEME FOCUSED ON HEALTHY LIVING HABITS. OUR EVENT-OF-THE-YEAR PERFORMANCE HELD AT ROCKHURST UNIVERSITY IN APRIL WAS TITLED: I FEEL GOOD! HEALTHY LESSONS FOR LIFE, WITH DANCES FOCUSED ON THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD SLEEP, HEALTHFUL EATING AND EXERCISE. THE OWEN/COX PROGRAM "TAKE THE STATE" CONDUCTED 145 CLASSES FOR A TOTAL OF 160 THIRD AND FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS IN 2014. EIGHT CULMINATING PERFORMANCES WERE HELD FOR A TOTAL AUDIENCE OF 1,500 PARENTS, TEACHERS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. MID-YEAR PERFORMANCES WERE HELD AT EACH PARTICIPATING SCHOOL, AND A FINAL SHOWCASE FOR ALL FULL-YEAR SCHOOLS, AT ROCKHURST UNIVERSITY, A PROFESSIONAL DANCE INSTRUCTOR AND PERFORMANCE ARTIST DONATED THE EQUIVALENT OF $15,800 IN SERVICES FOR THE EDUCATION PROGRAM.
