“National center for frontier communities (ncfc; the organization) is a nonprofit corporation established in 1997 to be the forefront of defining, supporting, and expanding services for the millions who live in remote areas. The organization has been the national advocacy voice for the frontier and has served as a central point of contact for referrals, information exchange, and networking among geographically separated communities. We are the only organization solely dedicated to frontier issues in the nation. Our primary sources of revenue are governmental and private grants and food hub sales. National and state programs: o lead advocacy. Conduct original research in support of policy development and program planning. O outreach to and support of other organizations. Participate in coalitions and partnerships focused on improving conditions in frontier communities. O maintain a website which serves as clearinghouse of frontier related resource materials, news and updates. Use social media to increase awareness of frontier communities. Local programs: o community wellness - the ncfc community wellness program develops strategic interventions and pilot models aimed at improving health outcomes and addressing the unique challenges of remote areas. We collaborate with remote health councils to enhance their capacity to respond to emerging community needs, currently focusing on prevention, capacity building, and youth engagement. Additionally, we design and implement innovative pilot programs that provide scalable solutions to improve community well- being in underserved regions. O frontier food hub - the frontier food hub and associated ncfc food system programming addresses food system challenges in remote areas through a multi-faceted approach. We provide market-side support for food producers, including marketing, distribution, aggregation, and consulting services. Additionally, we operate a seed library that serves as a free resource for farmers, gardeners, and hobbyists, and provide educational opportunities. Our work also includes supporting food pantries with supplemental distribution and capacity building, alongside facilitating community-based food projects that emphasize relationship building, planning, and creating a more inclusive local food system.”
“National center for frontier communities is exempt from federal and state income taxes under the provisions of internal revenue code section 501(c) (3). Accordingly, no provision or liability for income taxes has been provided in the accompanying financial statements.”
