“The organization has individual and organization membership categories: Individual membership categories: (1) General members, individuals who register as actively competing members and are eligible for competition in Judo, (2) Coach members, individuals who register and meet the required certifications to serve as an active coach as determined by USA Judo, and (3) Referee members, individuals who register and meet the required certifications to serve as active referees as determined by USA Judo. Organization Membership categories: (1) Club Members, Judo clubs that registered as clubs and agree to standards of conduct, (2) National Affiliated organizations, amateur sports organizations that register and are approved as affiliated organizations with appropriate level of proficiency for the selection of amateur athletes to represent the United States in international or national amateur athletics, (3) Contributing organization members, amateur sports organizations that conduct athletic programs or activities that further the sport of Judo in the United States or which otherwise support the sport of Judo in the United States and that register as Contributing Organizations, (4) State Members, State Judo Organizations that are independent 501(c)(3) organizations with bylaws and an established elected leadership and governance structure. State Members register annually with USA Judo as contributing organizations, and (5) Supporting Member Organizations, Organizations recognized by USA Judo as partners, sponsors, vendors, or in a role that is supportive of USA Judo's mission, strategic initiatives and/or operations.”

“The board of directors of usa judo is comprised of up to: two (2) independent directors, four (4) Athlete directors, one (1) group member director, three (3) At large directors, one (1) referee board member, one (1) coach board member, and one (1), if applicable, national affiliated organization director. Individuals belonging to the following membership categories are entitled to vote in an election for Directors of the Board: (1) Athlete Director, (2) Referee Board Member, who is elected by vote of the Referee Members of USA Judo, (3) Coach Board Member, who is elected by vote of the Coach Members of USA Judo, and (4) At-Large Directors, who is elected by vote of all current USA Judo Members in good standing. Each member in good standing within their respective category, is entitled to one vote. Independent Directors are selected by the nominating and governance committee. Organizations belonging to the following membership categories are entitled to vote in an election for Directors of the Board: (1) Group Membership Director, elected by vote from the Contributing Organization and State organizational members of USA. (2) The National Affiliated Organization Director is held by an individual representing the national affiliated organization member, or if usa judo has more than one national affiliated organization member, the director is jointly selected by all national affiliated organization members. Individuals and organizations belonging to the following membership categories have no voting privileges: (1) Club Members (except for the designated club representative in their capacity as an individual member), and (2) Supporting Organization Members.”

“The form 990 is reviewed by members of the Board of Directors for approval. A copy is provided to the organization's governing body prior to filing.”

“AT EACH BOARD MEETING, IF THERE IS A DISCUSSION OF SELECTING OR ENGAGING A VENDOR OR SERVICE PROVIDER, ALL IN ATTENDANCE ARE ASKED TO RECUSe THEMSELVES FROM THIS DISCUSSION IF THERE COULD BE A PERCEIVED CONFLICT. ANNUALLY, THE ORGANIZATION REVIEWS AND DISCUSSES THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY AND REQUESTS THAT EACH BOARD MEMBER LIST AND ACKNOWLEDGE ANY KNOWN CONFLICTS.”

“The board of directors reviews the compensation for the executive director by comparing his compensation to the compensation of individuals in like positions, in comparable organizations using forms 990, compensation studies, and other available data. The board then approves any changes in compensation based on this information. The organization has no other paid officers or employees meeting the irs definition of a key employee.”

“The organization posts its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements on its website for the public to review. The documents are also available upon request from the organization.”
