“Chartered in 1979, Avenida Guadalupe Association AGA began a process of transforming slum and blighted conditions in the Avenida Guadalupe neighborhood, first acquiring and demolishing a concentration of 40 blighted corrals including relocation for the construction of the UDAG funded Plaza Guadalupe complex educational, medical, and civic center in 1984 in partnership with the San Antonio Development Agency SADA. In cooperation with AGA, SADA facilitated property acquisition and new construction of early commercial building environments. Thus far, within a forty-plus year duration of the AGA a primary program service is 1 ongoing maintenance and management of public amenities consistent with public purpose which includes 2 serving as a hub for community organizations and primarily community service businesses i.e. doctors, dentists, government agencies, and adult education services, etc. and 3 promoting and celebrating Mexican-American culture to generate and maintain vitality and development in the neighborhood in which the premises developments are located Alazan-Apache/Avenida Guadalupe Neighborhood - historically, a distressed community serving residents almost exclusively residing at 0-30 50 AMI.”

“AGA continues into 2025 to manage and support age-in place housing for senior citizens residing in the Avenida Guadalupe neighborhood and the near Westside of San Antonio. In partnership with Avenida Guadalupe Associations financial partners, AGA continues to provide healthy food choices through its Healthy Foods Initiative to the 160 collective households of the Ernest Olivares Senior Apartments, the Charles Gonzalez Senior Apartment and the San Jacinto Senior Apartments including residents of the Alazan-Apache Courts curating culturally sensitive fruit and vegetable packages.”

“AGA is central to the distsributon of quality of life acrivities for the communities children particularly focusing on safe Halloween Barrio Boo, Thanksgiving Day Dia de Los Turkeys meal giveaways, and the Winter Holiday Plaza Guadalupe - Pictures with Santa serving over 1,000 economically stressed families.”
