Recommendations for officer's compensation is made by a sub-committee consisting of board members using an independent consultant. The president presents the board with a budgeted salary pool (based on several wage indexes and suggested merit increases) for approval. The salary pool is then dispensed at the president's discretion. Approval of the new salaries is given to the finance director for implementation. Officers' compensation was last reviewed in 2019.

Form 990, Part III, Line 3

As a result of the pandemic in 2020, the association had to postpone the annual meeting and transition most of the training classes and meetings to an online format. The fso training, executive leadership courses (emerging leaders), diversity & inclusion seminars and esg training were all done online starting in march 2020. Most of these events / meetings remain online, although there have been a few inperson committee meetings during the summer, and the association is still planning to have annual meeting as an inperson event in september 2021.

The association is exempt from federal income tax under 501(c)(6) of the internal revenue code. The association files annual federal information returns that are subject to routine examination; however, there are no examinations for any tax periods currently in progress.
