“Other program services 4: family and youth engagement: the organization works to increase high school graduation rates for latinos through robust support for middle and high school students and their parents to build a college-going mindset and equip students with the tools to succeed. After-school programs conexiones, early escalera, and escalera build leadership skills and nurture positive cultural identity while exposing youth to internship, career, and college opportunities. Colegio de padres is a parent workshop series to help parents support their child. Mobile lab helps parents learn about how to use technology. Other program services 5: arts and culture: at latino network, we view arts and culture as essential elements of youth education. And we believe every childregardless of race, ethnicity or classdeserves an arts-rich education. Latino networks arts education and cultural programs provide youth with the exposure and opportunity to: ignite creativity and passion, gain new methods of self-expression in a safe environment, strengthen problem solving skills, preserve and share latino heritages and traditions, and embrace a more confident and positive cultural identity. Our afterschool program uses arts and culture to build student success and prevent youth and gang violence. Latino networks ballet folklrico honors and promotes mexican culture, heritage, and identity through traditional dance classes for youth 6-18 and performances for the community.health and wellness: latino networks health and wellness programs strive to remove the stigma associated with mental illness, sexual orientation, and teen pregnancy, and increase conversations around health and sexuality. Together these programs carve out a space for dialogue, strengthening family communication and the continuum of service provision countywide. Our culturally competent, evidence-based programs guide participating youth and their families to make safe choices, seek support to promote mental and sexual well being, and ultimately lead healthier lives.”
