“District initiatives - the foundation works closely with the bartlesville public schools district to make sure our funding priorities continue to align with the district's priorities. To that end, we occasionally provide seed money to get new programs up and running in the district or provide funding for a temporary need. These initiatives are outside of the foundation's core programs. Our top-funded "district initiatives" this year include: funds to expand the aviation program at the high school, purchasing flight simulators for students and classroom upgrades. Innovative programs (this year our board decided to use these funds to support the implementation of a character and leadership development program for students called leader in me. It is modeled after stephen covey's 7 habits of highly effective people. Ranch heights playground improvements - with the expansion of ranch heights elementary school, our district needed some funding to improve and expand its playground. School safety (school resource officer training and salaries): school safety is one of our school district's top priorities. Over the past few years, our schools have invested in additional school resource officers and safety equipment. The bartlesville public schools now have a school resource officer assigned to each of its school sites. They are fully trained police officers. The bps foundation has partnered with community members and local businesses to provide support for school resource officers including training (attending national and state level school resource officer conferences) and safety equipment prioritized by the bartlesville public schools director of health and safety. This program has been incredibly well received by our school staff and administrators and by our community. We continue to pass 100% of funds raised through this program on to support school safety and the specific needs our schools prioritize.”
