| IRS990/Desc | 0 | The St. John Auxiliary Inc. is proud to support the patients, families, physicians, and staff of St. John Health System. 677 volunteers gave 72,627 hours of service throughout 4 of the St. John Health System facilities: St. John Medical Center, St. John Broken Arrow, St. John Owasso, and St. John Sapulpa. Volunteers serve in areas such as guest services/information desks, surgery waiting, emergency rooms, patient dismissals, flower and mail delivery, gift shops, pediatrics, pastoral care visitors, radiology, and many more. We began our $2 million pledge for Telemedicine in this fiscal year. Nearly all the money is raised from the day to day operations of the St. John Auxiliary Gift Shops. The St. John Auxiliary, Inc. firmly believes in inspiring our youth through our junior volunteer program and through high school internships. High school students have the opportunity to shadow doctors and nurses and learn about career opportunities in medicine and nursing, and volunteer service to areas of the hospitals. This past year we had 238 high school students from 37 area high schools and some of the students were home schooled. The students served 18,973 hours of service. In addition, we partnered with Tulsa Community College and hosted "Club Scrubs". This is a program that teaches high school students how to apply for colleges and universities, the curriculum they will face, and guest speakers and presenters teach a variety of topics. During the school year, there were between 45-75 students that attended sessions 3 hours each week. |
