Nfn has a tradition of maintaining a low overhead because of its large team of volunteers and in-kind donations. In 2003, nfn purchased northland center, a 129,000 sq ft prominent north tulsa property. Nfn built out a portion of the west 40,000 sq. Ft. Of northland and the remainder of the space is rented or available for rent in an attempt to promote economic development in the area. This move provided nfn with an exceedingly better facility in order to serve its clients in a more expedient and dignified manner.”
“Neighbor for neighbor has ten basic programs which provide services to the indigent, low income and uninsured population each year. Nfn services are two fold: 10survival ---for clients and patients in crisis that need basic services to survive- such as food, shelter and medical care; and 2) therapy and guidance- for clients and patients that need additional services and a plan to press forward out of their impoverished or unhealthy predicament. Summaries of nfn's programs are as follows: nfn health programs: at nfn, thousands of people receive medical and optical care from wonderful staff and volunteer medical professionals/ nfn free medical clinic provides acute and systematic care that patients would not be able to receive otherwise. Nfn prescription dispensary provides prescription screening and prescriptions. Nfn helps many of our patients to receive free medications directly from the manufacturer for several months. Nfn also provides prescriptions from our shelves. Nfn does not assist with narcotics or psychiatric drugs or select expensive medications. Nfn eyeglass clinic provides free exye exams, glasses, frames and subsidizes the cost of eyeglass lenses for adults and children. Nfn is currently partnering with the tulsa downtown lions club to increase these services. Nfn family assistanc program: nfn provides bus tokens, rental assistance, utility bill assistance, work boots & uniforms, identification cards and other basis services. Financial counseling and job referrals are also provided. Nfn food distribution program: nfn's food pantry supplements monthly food supply for low-income or disadvantaged families. The clients that are not elderly or disabled are asked to contribute by becoming a volunteer if they need help for more than a few months. They are also asked to attend likeskills classes to learn new skills in order to gain employment. Nfn's food supply is received in two ways: monthly purchases from local companies and by donations from churches, schools, individual community members and employee food drives in prviate companies. Nfn life skills program: nfn has life skills classes and individual coaching sessions; ged program; job placement and classes that address nutrition, addiction, anger management and communication. Volunteer certified therapists are available two days a week at nfn- referrals for other psychiatric services are also provided when appropriate. This program was based on the adage "teach a man to fish and he will have food for a lifetime." the goal of these classes is to help poeople understand how to break habits that hinder their ability to have a healthy life and a better future. Nfn legal clinic: the nfn legal clinic serves our clients by drafting legal documents which help families and children with emergency needs as well as provides relief for clients oppressed by deceptive financial schemes. Negotiations are all handled on behalf of our clients with mortgage companies, landlords, car dealerships and other contracts. Nfn circle housing programs: the home ownership program is for low-income families and the home repair program is for the low-income elderly or disabled that own their own home. Community projects: community projects distributes free books, clothing and household items. Community holdiay party for children and their families. Advocacy and achievements: nfn has provided substantial services for 58 years. Nfn has been working with the poor to fight poverty.
