Financial Statement Notes

Part II, Line 5: Summarized Policy

The organization performs annual inspections for each easement property. They have a checklist of items that are monitored, reviewing and confirming there have been no ecological infringements on the easement property.

Part II, Line 9: Organization Reporting of conservation easements.

Holding only four conservation easements, the organization has only just become aware of a need to include reports of these as assets in their financial statements. The organization has updated financial statements to include the easements as part of the organization's balance sheet holdings. Values of the easements are shown based on the valuation at the time the easement was received.

IRS990/Desc0Siskiyou Land Conservancy is a small non-profit organization in Northern California dedicated to protecting biological diversity and promoting sustainable living. Our work covers five counties(Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino, Trinity and Siskiyou) containing key habitat for many endangered species.Siskiyou Land Conservancy is dedicated to protecting fish habitat throughout Northern California, particularly on the Klamath and Smith Rivers. In addition, the Sustainable Communities Program assists North Coast residents who want information and resources for living lighter on the planet.The projects of the organization are many. Siskiyou Land Conservancy currently owns two parcels. The Eel River property protects 160 acres and nearly one mile of critical spawning habitat for Endangered Coho salmon. The other parcel, 80 acres on the Smith River, protects rare plant habitat. The organization also hold three conservation easements. One of the easements protects 148 acres on the South Fork Smith River, another protects 163 acres in western Mendocino County, and the third protects 73 acres in Southern Humboldt County. Restoration projects are currently underway on two of these properties.
