| 2. Southern University Crime Prevention - $10,000 BFI is a collaboration of multi-denominational churches 13 dedicated to serving the needs of fragile families. Caseys Kids Count Data Book shows that in 2020 75% of black families are absent of the father and 44.4% are live in poverty. Poverty is a state or condition in which a person or community lacks the financial resources and essentials for a minimum standard of living. Words associated with the effects of poverty are indigence destitution deprivation neediness and hardship all of which are directly connected to Adverse Childhood Experiences ACE. Recent research has identified ACE as being associated with behavioral problems in children. BFI embraces these fragile families and provides rental assistance food counseling and education.
