Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
A major program service and objective of GOIC is promotion of the economic, legislative and regulatory interests of the oyster community it represents. This was accomplished in 2017 through a week long series of educational and promotional activities and events in Washington, DC. These activities included meetings organized for and with elected representatives and their staffs, as well as appointed federal officials and their staffs. At the beginning of the week we sponsored a gathering of oyster community representatives to discuss issues pertinent to national shellfish community interests both commercial and non-governmental. Later in the week we also sponsored a gathering of similar interests along with many of the same legislative and federal administration officials and staff with whom we had met during the week. This event was promotional and educational in nature and was attended by over 700 people. Oyster community members in the Gulf region number more than 10,000.$0$30,885
To represent the regulatory interest of the GOIC several regulatory meetings were attended. There were also meetings of the organization and staff to set priorities and objectives for these meetings.$0$4,290
