“The president/ceo works with the independent auditor and staff accountant to complete the 990. Once all of the inforamtion is entered into the form 990, board members review the form and make any revisions they feel are needed. Once any revisions are made, the form 990 is filed.”

“Every february, each board member and staff member complete and sign a disclosure statement and are asked to notify the organization if any conflict or potential conflict arises during the year. The statements are reviewed by the ceo and the chair of the organization to see if there are any disclosed conflicts that the board of directors needs to take action on. Any potential and actual conflicts are reviewed by the board and a decision is made regarding the conflict that is in the best interest of the organization.”

“The latan governance committee researches comparability data and brings it to the board for deliberations at one of its quarterly meetings. Salary ranges are established for each position and the ceo compensates staff members within those ranges.”

“Members of the board of directors do not receive compensation.”

“The organization makes its governing documents and conflict of interest policy available to the public upon reqeust. The organization's financial statements are distributed as a public document through the louisiana legislative auditor.”

“Latan assists individuals with disabilities to achieve enhanced quality of life and greater independence through access to assistive technology (at). Latan serves louisiana residents of all ages with all types of disabilities, including wounded warriors, and with limitations due to aging who need at and daily living aids. At includes items that individuals use to assist them in daily activities, such as canes, wheelchairs, communicaion devices, hearing aids, keyboard alternatives, learning software and vision aids.”

“Device loan program - latan provides loans of assistive technology devices and equipment for the purpose of individuals trying various devices to see what works best for them in school, at work, at home and in the community. This allows the opportunity for individuals to try out devices in their own environments before purchase, while their device is being repaired, or while waiting for one that they have ordered. Training - latan provides assistive technology training events throughout the year technical assistance - latan provides technical assistance related to assistive technology.”
