“The organizaton has associate members, builder/developer members, and affiliate members. The organization's members elect members of the governing body from a pool of pre-selected candidates, chosen by the nominating committee. Elections are held on an annual basis.”

“A copy of the completed form 990 is presented to each officer and board of director member for their review at a designated board meeting. In cases where a board member is absent, a copy is either mailed or e-mailed to the absentee. Copies of form 990 are retained in the organization's office and are considered public information and may be distributed or copied upon request.”

“Members of the board of directors of the home builders association of greater baton rouge's ("the association"), officers, volunteers, and key employees must act at all times in the best interests of the association. Members of the board, officers, volunteers, and key employees shall disclose all potential and actual conflicts of interest to the board of directors and, as required, remove themselves from all discussion and voting on any related matters. On an annual basis, all individuals to whom this policy shall apply will be provided with a copy of this policy and required to complete and sign an acknowledgement and disclose form prepared by the board of directors. If an individual becomes aware of any actual or potential conflicts of interest at any time following the submission of the disclosure form, or if the information provided becomes inaccurate or incomplete, the individual will promptly notify the board of directors or the chief executive officer of the association in writing.”

“Compensation of the association's executive director was determined by the association's budget committee using the average employment wage statistics from the louisiana workforce commission. Once a determination is made, the compensation is reviewed and approved by the board of directors.”

“The organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements are retained in the association's office and are made available upon request to member's of the general public. Persons requesting to view the documents may come to the office or if requested, the information will be mailed to them.”
