DescriptionGrantsExpenses
During Fiscal Year 7/1/13 6/30/14, Drachman Design-Build Coalition designed one single-family prototype residence intended for sale to a family earning below 80% of the Area median Income. Permits were acquired in August, 2013, and a construction loan was secured shortly afterward. Construction began in September, 2013 and continued until June, 2014. The permitted model plan set will be turned over to the City of Tucson so that other not-for-profit builders can use the plans. DDBC will monitor the energy use of this home using electronic thermal sensors. The immediate benefit of the residence constructed will be to a family, and if the model plans are built again by other builders, this number will multiply. The research data measuring heat transfer through various wall assemblies will potentially benefit thousands of future homeowners. Approximately 40 undergraduate architecture students benefitted from the hands-on professional experience of designing and constructing an energy efficient custom dwelling.$5,488-
