IRS990EZ/ProgramServiceAccomplishment/DescriptionProgramServiceAccom0Drachman Design-Build Coalition (DDBC) completed the construction of one single-family prototype residence in 2010, and it is currently on the market for sale to a family earning below 80% of the Area median income. The permitted model plan set was turned over to the City of Tucson so that other not-for-profit builders can use the plans. DDBC also monitored the energy use of two previously constructed homes using electronic thermal sensors. The intermediate benefit of the residence constructed will be to a family of 2 to 8 persons, and if the model plans are built again by other builders, this number will multiply. The research data measuring heat transfer through various wall assemblies will potentially benefit thousands of future homeowners. Approximately forty undergraduate architecture students benefitted from the hands-on professional experience of designing and constructing an energy efficient custom dwelling.
