Sagrado is part of puerto ricos oldest private, continuing educational project and is defined by a deeply held mission that reflects a double commitment to solidarity. The first part of the mission states that we seek to educate persons in intellectual freedom and moral conscience. Sagrado aims to educate persons, each in his or her own individuality and wholeness, to develop their own judgement and exercise their own ethical responsibility. Once appointed, these trustees have the same fiduciary duties as all the other trustees. The society retains no other roles in the governance of the university.”

Most of the undergraduate students come from the middle and lower social-economic levels of puerto rican society.”

“Sagrado offers comprehensive support services to foster students' academic and personal development. The athletic program supports men's and women's teams in sports such as volleyball, basketball, soccer, and swimming as part of the intercollegiate athletic league (lai), promoting physical, mental, and academic growth.
