“The ancient order of hibernians division 1 of yonkers is a local chapter of the national ancient order of hibernians ("aoh") that has existed in the city of yonkers since 1891. Members gather at monthly meeting between the months of september thru june to promote irish faith, heritage, and culture. Several activities and events are held throughout the year to accomplish this.”

“Division 1 of the aoh in yonkers participates in the following activity during the year: respect life sunday - this day falls on the first sunday in october each year and is the official observance celebrating the sanctity of all human life within the catholic archdiocese of new york. The division joins with the aoh new york state board and the sisters of life religious order to sponsor a special mass celebrated at st. Patrick's cathedral in new york city. The division also makes a monetary donation to the sisters of life on this day each year. The firefighter sean tallon memorial gaelic sports tournament - this event is held in late october each year and is run in conjunction with the gaelic athletic association of new york minor board. The tournament is dedicated to the life and legacy of nyc firefighter sean tallon, a yonkers native who lost his life responding to the terrorist attacks on september 11, 2001. The purpose is to promote irish culture by sponsoring an event where children as young as 8 years old learn and play irish sports such as gaelic football and hurling. The division helps to offset expenses for awards and operating costs for this event. This helps promote irish culture by encouraging young people to learn and take part in playing native irish games. Annual communion breakfast - this event is held each february at st. Joseph's seminary in yonkers. It is an opportunity to celebrate mass with division members and their families as well as to promote vocations for the catholic priesthood. The event consists of a catholic mass held in the seminary chapel followed by a breakfast that includes guest speaker who can talk about subject relative to the event of the day. Annual st. Patrick's day parades - division 1 participates and supports several local parades in westchester county, new york as well as the annual nyc st. Patrick's day parade in manhattan. The purpose of these parades is to honor the life and legacy of patrick, the first bishop of ireland and the patron saint of the catholic archdiocese of new york. Members volunteer their services performing duties on organizing and formation committees to ensure these parades are successful. Division 1 yonkers is an official affiliated organization of the nyc st. Patrick's day parade. Annual golf outing fundraiser - this event is held in may of each year and is the principal fundraiser for the organization. The event raises money through sponsorships and contests held on the golf course during the day of the event. Monies raised from this event go to support the division's charities and missions program as well as to operating costs throughout the year.”
