The purpose of the wire fund is to obtain full price for scrap copper wire used in the newark plant, by stripping off the insulation, and selling it as 1 copper. The fund was chartered to promote community support and stewardship within and outside of the newark ohio plant. Since the company is not interested in making the investment to strip, and or dispose of the wire, members of the electric shop will perform this task on "non-company" time. In return, the company will receive the salvage value that would be obtained from un-stripped copper wire, with the remaining balance being utilized by the electric shop wire fund, in accordance with established fund procedures.
