IRS990EZ/PrimaryExemptPurpose0The mission of the Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc. is to provide junior golfers under the age of nineteen the opportunity to participate in organized golf competitions or golf related events with others their age and skills level. An emphasis is placed on the benefits to life, society, and community that can be derived through Education, Leadership, Teamwork, and Fellowship by participating in a sport where each individual player is responsible for playing under the rules of golf and fair play. The leadership of the older players is exemplified for the younger players by their individual and team goals, creating an environment for the young people to share and enjoy the fellowship of others with the same high commitments.Membership in the Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc. is open to all junior golfers under the age of nineteen. Members age 18 may participate until their 19th birthday or enter college, whichever comes first. Membership in the Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundat
IRS990EZ/ProgramServiceAccomplishment/DescriptionProgramServiceAccom0Junior Team Shootout-2013. Two-player team three day event. Saturday was a "best ball", where the best score on the hole by either team member is the team score for the hole. Sunday was a two-player "Scramble" where the best shot is selected and both team members play from that spot. The final round on Monday was an "Alternate Shot" team format, followed by lunch and awards presentation. There were 38 participants.
IRS990EZ/ProgramServiceAccomplishment/DescriptionProgramServiceAccom1PLATINUM TOURThe Platinum Tour was created in 2008 when three Board members, who had children playing in a local tour that conducted 36-hole tournaments, made a request to the full Board of Directors to start a tour for advanced boys and girls between the ages of 12-18. The Platinum Tour was approved to be a division of Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation and was registered with the State of Florida. Nine tournaments were conducted the first year in the months of March through October. It was quickly learned that there were few juniors that wanted to play additional tournaments in addition to their high school schedule, so the number of tournaments was reduced with the last tournament being the Back to School event in August. An exciting new tournament was added in 2011 where two-member teams compete in a shootout; Best Ball - Scramble - Alternate Shot. The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and the Florida State Golf Association (FSGA) recognize the important role the Platinum Tour plays in junior golf in South Florida by providing Performance Base Entry Performance Stars and STEP Tournament Exemptions. In addition to these awards, some of the finest trophies in junior golf are presented for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division of every tournament, plus an overall award for boys.As players grow and prove themselves in the Gold Tour, the Platinum Tour is their next step for developing their skills. Tour membership is open to Boys 13-18 who regularly score 89 or better and Girls 13-18 who score 99 or better. Players 12 years of age who demonstrate the ability to meet the required scoring conditions may request membership. Boys 13-15, 16-18 will play 36 holes at an approximate distance of 6400-6800 yards and Girds 5300-5800 yards. The Platinum Tour provides the following advantages over other tournament opportunities: Tournaments are conducted in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties, therefore keeping travel expense to a minimum. Most tournaments are played on weekends, giving parents the opportunity to follow their child. Low entry fees Best trophies in junior golf awarded at each tournament Player of the Year awards Low Stroke Average award Scholarships Players play in Threesomes or Twosomes; No Foursomes except for the Shootout. Pace of Play is 4 1/2 hours or less There were 99 members for the year.
IRS990EZ/ProgramServiceAccomplishment/DescriptionProgramServiceAccom2GOLD TOURJuniors compete in a division according to their current age. The divisions, number of holes, and approximate yardage they play are detailed on our website: www.jga.org. Juniors who will celebrate a birthday that will require them to move to the next age division may consider playing in the older division from the start if they will earn points in more than 6 tournaments for Player of the Year competition. Points are not transferred from one division to another except for points earned in the Okee-Gold Cup Qualifier.Trophies are awarded to the first 3 place finishers in each tournament except the Okee-Gold Cup Qualifier, where they will receive an embroidered shirt for the matches.. Players earn points towards a Player of the Year Award for their position of finish in each tournament, playing in the Okee-Gold Cup, attending the USGA Rules of Golf Clinic, and any other event the Board of Directors may authorize to receive points. Points are earned September through July.Okee-Gold Cup: The Okee-Gold Cup is a "Ryder Cup" format tournament conducted between GCJGF and JGFA at the Okeeheelee Golf Course located in West Palm Beach. A qualifying tournament is conducted in September by GCJGF to determine players who will represent GCJGF. The Participation & Performance Point Winners from the previous season will be exempt from qualifying providing they meet the age requirement for the division they won POY and they play in the qualifying tournament.Florida State Golf Association - Junior Team Championships: Participants for this tournament will be by invitation from the GCJGF Board of Directors.Point leaders in the 13-18 divisions will be considered to represent GCJGF in the annual FSGA Junior Team Championships. The following awards are presented at the Annual Awards Banquet following the Junior/Parent Tournament in August. Player of the Year: Special trophies are presented to the first 3 point leaders in each age division, except for 6 & Under, providing they participated in at least 8 events. The Player of the Year in each division is automatically qualified to play in the next Okee-Gold Cup, providing they meet the age requirement for the division they won the POY and they play in the Qualifier for seeding purposes. The POY for Boys 13-14, 15-18, and Girls 13-18 will each receive a FSGA Florida Junior Tour exemption. Overall Player of the Year (Boys and Girls): The overall point leader for their gender divisions receives a special trophy and a scholarship, up to $300, to a National junior tournament. PAW Award: Presented to each member that participated in at least 8 events, won a trophy during the year, and had no grade lower than a B on their final report card. College Scholarship: Awarded to graduating senior members who will be attending college on a full-time basis.
