During fy24, south florida symphony presented a series of five in person masterworks concerts through 11 performances, plus a large-scale holiday concert performed two times; all concerts featured world-class soloists and musicians -- which were attended by more than 22,000 patrons and students in broward, miami-dade, and monroe counties. Facilitating engagement with the arts for more than 5,000 culturally underserved students and their families this year, the impactful symphony in the schools program featured 'preserving our coral reef' in key west and at fort lauderdale's 'parker- and the miami beach bandshell. The concerts introduced the orchestra, gave a comparison of orchestral instruments with the engaging story of efforts to save the coral reef, with the goal, to empower children - through classical music - to change personal behaviors to protect the environment. In spring 2024, the sfso music educators returned to the schools, providing side by side and sectional training in numerous schools throughout the region. Further community engagement also included 'community beats,' a program for members of south florida's diverse communities to experience the performing arts in intimate, unexpected spaces. Through a series of events featuring music, food, and socialization opportunities, participants were provided access to art, guest soloists and musicians in unintimidating and unusual locations. In addition, sfso is a cultural leader and community asset, having a far- reaching economic impact. As the largest orchestral employer in the region, the organization generates jobs for nearly 300 musicians, production staff and arts administrators during the current fiscal year. The sfso continues to have an immeasurable effect on the communities it serves.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0DURING FY24, SOUTH FLORIDA SYMPHONY PRESENTED A SERIES OF FIVE IN PERSON MASTERWORKS CONCERTS THROUGH 11 PERFORMANCES, PLUS A LARGE-SCALE HOLIDAY CONCERT PERFORMED TWO TIMES; ALL CONCERTS FEATURED WORLD-CLASS SOLOISTS AND MUSICIANS -- WHICH WERE ATTENDED BY MORE THAN 22,000 PATRONS AND STUDENTS IN BROWARD, MIAMI-DADE, AND MONROE COUNTIES.
