FORM 990, PART VII, COLUMN E AND SCHEDULE J, PART II, COLUMN B(III):

After serving with distinction for more than four decades with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Jacob Solomon retired as President and CEO on June 30, 2024. Joining Federation in 1981 as a Planning Associate, he rose to senior leadership positions, taking on the top executive role in 1992. During that time, he was a highly respected, talented, and inspiring community leader, guiding the strategic raising and distribution of hundreds of millions of dollars to support humanitarian and social services for the Jewish people in Miami, in Israel, and worldwide. Well-regarded throughout the decades for his deep knowledge of the Jewish world, Solomon maintained the support of national and international Jewish and non-Jewish leaders as he navigated Miami's response to extraordinary moments in worldwide modern Jewish history. Among these: the rescue and resettlement of nearly one million Jews from the former Soviet Union; the successful integration of Ethiopian Jews into Israeli society; the steadfast partnership with communities in Israel, including Or Akiva and Yerucham, which enabled them to flourish; emergency support for the people of Israel during multiple years of terror attacks and wars; and introducing the miracles the Jewish spiritual homeland to people of all ages through organized mega missions and solidarity trips to Israel, teen experiences, educational and college programs (such as Birthright Israel). His passion for Jewish Miami also drove efforts to expand and build three Jewish community centers throughout the county; consolidate three vital social-service agencies into Jewish Community Services of South Florida; sustain the Jewish community safety net through COVID-19 and several distressing economic downturns; and coalesce the community around caring for the victims and families of the devastating Surfside building collapse. While he was doing all this, closest to his heart was ensuring that Miami's population of Holocaust Survivors was always able to live out their years in dignity and with proper community services, and that the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach continued to serve as a beacon for education and memory. In addition, Solomon was committed to the ideals that a community must always care for the most vulnerable among us and that they receive the support they need. In the more recent years of his tenure, Solomon focused on securing Miami's Jewish community amid rising worldwide antisemitism with the establishment of the Miami Office of Community Security and strong participation in national organizations to combat virulent Jew hatred on college campuses, at Jewish institutions, and throughout social media. A builder of relationships, consensus, and vision whose commitment to social justice has improved countless lives, Jacob Solomon has earned the enduring admiration of the Federation leadership and our entire community throughout his years of tireless dedication to the Jewish people as the chief Jewish communal professional in Miami. THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER REPORTABLE COMPENSATION FROM A RELATED ORGANIZATION LISTED IN COLUMN E OF PART VII AND IN COLUMN B (III) OF SCHEDULE J INCLUDES A ONE-TIME PAYMENT OF PREVIOUSLY REPORTED DEFERRED COMPENSATION OF $1,681,473 which was earned over the period of 6 years AND ALSO INCLUDES A ONE-TIME PAYMENT OF PREVIOUSLY UNDISTRIBUTED DEFERRED COMPENSATION THAT WAS REPORTED ON PRIOR FORM 990 AND PAID CURRENTLY.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4After serving with distinction for more than four decades with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Jacob Solomon retired as President and CEO on June 30, 2024.
