“Approximately 2000 senior volunteers, aged 50 and above, staff the seniors vs. Crime, inc. Offices which are located throughout the state of florida. These volunteers, called senior sleuths, assist seniors who feel that a business or individual has victimized them economically. Their duties include answering the phone, assisting walk-ins, identifying suspicious activity and directing seniors to proper agency for resolution. They conduct interviews, record data, mediate solutions, write up copy of past cases, conduct phone or internet research, and train other volunteers. The senior sleuths also help with investigations and may conduct covert operations at businesses suspected of engaging in false or deceptive practices. They may also work at home reporting contacts by telemarketing companies, reviewing their mail for suspicious solicitations, or by clipping newspaper or magazine ads. The senior sleuths are not compensated nor do they incur expenses.”
