“To advance music education by promoting the understanding and making of music by all.”
“Support teachers and their endeavors in improving music education in their communities by the following: conference: the mississippi music educators association annually co- sponsors a state-wide conference for music teachers and students. During the conference, hundreds of teachers and students from around our state meet for workshops, performances, and educational opportunities. Workshops: fall workshops, typically held in september or october, are specially designed for music educators in the state of mississippi. There are typically six workshops. Three workshops for elementary educators in the south, central, and north regions of mississippi. Three workshops for secondary educators in the south, central, and north regions of mississippi. Honor choirs: hundreds of students around our state audition for the opportunity to perform in the mississippi all state honor choirs. There are three honor choirs sponsored by mmea: elementary, jr. High satb, and jr. High ssa. Students audition online, their auditions are judged, and those with the highest scores are selected to participate in the honor choirs. Clinicians from around the country are hired to conduct these honor choirs who each perform at the conclusion of our state conference each year.”
