“All volunteers are members of Mud Tavern Volunteer Fire and Rescue and may be firefighters, medical personnel, support personnel, and do not have dues for membership, must be 18 years of age, and approved by a majority of members present at regular meeting”

“An officer shall be deemed elected if he or she receives the majority vote of the membership in attendance at such meeting.”

“A complete copy of Form 990 was presented at a regular meeting of the Board of Directors to be reviewed and approved for completion.”

“To ensure the Organization operates in a manner consistent with charitable purposes, and doesn't engage in activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status, periodic reviews shall be conducted. The periodic reviews shall, at a minimum, include the following subjects: (a.) Whether compensation arrangements and benefits are reasonable, based on competent survey information, and the result of arm's length bargaining. (b.) Whether partnerships, joint ventures, and arrangements with management organizations conform to the Organization's written policies, are properly recorded, reflect reasonable investment or payments for goods and services, further charitable purposes and don't result in inurement, impermissible private benefit, or in an excess benefit transaction.”

“Regular business meetings are held every 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month and are open to the public. Any member of the public is welcome to a meeting to review governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements, as they are discussed every meeting. These documents are approved or opposed during the meeting.”
