Black History Saturday BCDI-Nashville co-hosted Black History Saturday with another community organization. The event celebrated our rich history and resilience. The event brought all ages together for games, storytelling, music, and fellowship. BCDI-Nashville gave out books, bags, and information about the organization and our eight essential outcomes which are the foundation of our work. 35th Anniversary Milestone BCDI-Nashville celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2025. This significant milestone honored decades of service, leadership, and commitment to educational equity and family empowerment. The event served as a reintroduction of BCDI-Nashville to the community. The anniversary event brought together community members, partners, and supporters, underscoring the lasting impact of BCDI-Nashville's work. Family, Friends and Neighbors Initiative The Family, Friends and Neighbors (FFN) event co-hosted with our national office gave an opportunity for us to engage with FFN caregivers and listen to their experiences and needs. By supporting informal caregivers, this program strengthened networks of care and provided resources that enhanced child development within families and neighborhoods. The initiative's impact was seen in increased caregiver participation and positive feedback from community members. Membership Growth Membership increased in 2025, as more individuals and families joined BCDI-Nashville. The growth reflected heightened engagement, expanded outreach efforts, and the organization's reputation for meaningful programs. Members contributed to advocacy campaigns and participated in various events, strengthening the community network. Advocacy Efforts BCDI-Nashville continued its advocacy for Black children and families. Key initiatives included educational workshops, policy forums, and community mobilization around issues of equity and access. Christmas Celebration The annual Christmas celebration fostered community spirit and unity. BCDI-Nashville provided holiday gifts and resources to families, ensuring joyful experiences for children. The event featured activities, performances, and opportunities for families to connect and celebrate together. NBCDI Capacity Building Grant BCDI-Nashville was one of six villages selected to receive the NBCDI Capacity Building Grant. The grant enabled the organization to strengthen its infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and expand its reach. The funding supported movement-building activities and allowed BCDI-Nashville to further invest in community partnerships. Movement and Infrastructure Building In 2025, BCDI-Nashville prioritized movement-building and infrastructure development. Efforts included strategic planning, leadership training, and resource allocation to ensure long-term organizational sustainability. These actions will position BCDI- Nashville as a leading voice in the local and national landscape in the future. Conclusion BCDI-Nashville's accomplishments in 2025 reflect a year of growth, celebration, and community impact. The organization's commitment to Black children and families remains strong, with ongoing efforts in advocacy, infrastructure building, and member engagement.
